"Further Education Sussex is driven by a simple mission:
to further improve the experience of learners in the Sussex
further education colleges. It is about improving quality
through direct, effective action and ensuring maximum impact.
FE Sussex has
already gained a national reputation for innovation in the
ways it carries out this mission. It is driven by the quality
improvement agendas of the Sussex FE colleges, but it is an
inclusive organisation, with partner members from Sussex Enterprise,
the careers companies, the three children services, and the
Learning and Skills Council Sussex. This unique format ensures
joined up thinking and coherent action.
I firmly believe that the great strength of FE Sussex rests
in its network of members and key partners. We have already
demonstrated that we can deliver more effectively together
than separately. Action for Business Colleges is a clear example
of the power of the network. Our CPD programme, 14-19 work
and improved quality across all the Sussex colleges are just
a few further examples.
We do recognise the individual requirements of our members.
The power of the network is most certainly not 'one size fits
all'! One of our highest profile activities at present is
the continuing development of the regional 'Action for Business
Colleges' initiative.
FE Sussex has a key role in delivering the government's agenda
for education and training in Sussex, underpinning the development
of the Sussex economy.
Plans are already well-advanced for further development of
FE Sussex activity throughout 2008."
