Championing Work Based Learning is a joint initiative between FE Sussex and Sussex Council of Training Providers (SCTP). The twin purposes of the project are to work closely with FE Colleges delivering work based learning provision to enable organisational development that :

1. Impacts on quality of provision and framework achievement, and

2. Increases understanding and involvement of strategic staff and college corporations of the role, contribution and impact of work based learning in meeting organisational objectives.

We are working with individual colleges to identify or clarify good practice and areas for improvement in their own provision, and using these discussions as a basis for producing a set of practical and relevant objectives for inclusion in their forward work based learning action plans.

A third and equally valuable outcome of the project is to identify trends and common themes, with recommendations for FE Sussex and SCTP to take forward with providers in 2006/07 and beyond.

We see this project as an extremely important one for all providers in Sussex, and are determined to make sure that we build on the identified themes proactively and continuously as we work towards improving performance across Sussex.
