Member Groups

FE Sussex co-ordinates the activities of several groups. Each group comprises staff from member colleges and organisation and works on specific agendas and projects – all aiming to improve quality and ensure effective delivery of further education in Sussex.

Members of the groups are able to access documents and contribute to forums in the Members Area of the website.

FE Sussex Members Group

FE Sussex is a limited company owned by the 12 colleges in Sussex. The principal of each college is a director of FE Sussex and formal board meetings (members’ meetings) take place on a monthly basis.

The agenda of these meetings is diverse and covers everything from quality improvement to educational developments on a local and national scale. Go to forum

CPD

CPD Managers from the 12 Sussex colleges meet once a term to share expertise and good practice.  Through FE Sussex, the group arrange a First Manager Programme that is open to all colleges.

The CPD Group has the brief to help and inform the development of the FE Sussex core programme of activities for its members. The group has representation from all member colleges. Their responsibility is for:

  • The promotion and distribution of FE Sussex Quality Improvement Materials
  • Recruitment of staff from across their college for FE Sussex Quality Improvement projects and programmes
  • Ensuring that their college staff are fully briefed in relation to FE Sussex Quality Improvement events
  • College evaluation and feedback
  • Appropriate targeting and circulation of pertinent information/materials.

Finance Group

Finance officers/managers/directors from the 12 Sussex colleges meet on a twice termly basis to share good practice and learn of forthcoming issues which affect the funding of colleges. FE Sussex arranges appropriate speakers and collates topics for discussion and desemmination. Go to forum

Human Resources

Human resources officers from all colleges in Sussex have the opportunity to meet on a termly basis to share expertise and peer group experience. Aspects of HR management and regulations which are common to all colleges are discussed. HR officers table items for consideration in advance of meetings to enable appropriate statistics and information to be circulated in advance. Go to forum

International Officers

Most colleges in Sussex are involved in international recruiting and marketing. Some are highly active and others less so. The international officers group is a self-help and awareness raising forum which meets on a termly basis. Meetings attract speakers and guests from national organisations of a commercial and non-commercial basis. The sharing and methods of implementation of government rules and regulations is a central plank of this forum.Go to forum
