Action for Outstanding Colleges (A4OC)

The A4OC initiative is central to FE member colleges' aim to achieve outstanding status. The A4OC agenda promotes the sharing of good practice between colleges via a wide variety of activities.

Collaboration and promotion of initiatives between colleges with the aim of improving quality can take many forms and include

  • Regular meetings of quality managers to discuss and manage pan-Sussex quality issues
  • Using development monies to produce high quality resources which can be shared on a cooperative basis
  • Sharing Self Assessment Reports between colleges
  • Examining performance data on a comparative basis across similar colleges
  • Using experience of peers to improve procedures and the quality cycle of college
  • Grouping colleagues with a common curriculum theme with the aim of quality improvement

Quality is a dynamic issue and the A4OC group meet approximately every six weeks to implement the above. Special A4OC projects appear elsewhere on the FE Sussex website – look for the appropriate tab.
