Capacity Building – Work Based Learning

FE Sussex is the lead partner in this large multi-stranded project which is being jointly delivered with the Sussex Council of Training Providers (SCTP) and sponsored by the Learning and Skills Council.

The project has the following aims:

  1. To support quality improvement of work based learning
  2. To develop co-ordinated representation of work based learning on Strategic Partnership Boards and Local Area Partnership Boards
  3. To secure greater employer involvement in work based learning
  4. To promote the benefits and pathways available with work based learning
  5. To improve staff development opportunities for those involved in the delivery of work based learning

The project is delivered by staff and consultants from both organisations and the steering group – comprising FE Sussex and SCTP board members) have invested considerable resources to ensure the profile of work based learning is raised to a level where it becomes a natural choice for learners who are best-suited to this pathway

NEW - Apprenticeships in Sussex DVD

FE Sussex and SCTP have collaborated to produce a new promotional DVD that showcases the positive experiences of Sussex apprentices and employers. The DVD has a range of options allowing it to be used in a tailored way for employers, specific occupations or a general overview of what apprenticeships are all about.

Apprenticeship Champion

This LSC contract is managed by FE Sussex and associated with STCP. Its aim is to help launch and promote the Vacancy Matching Service,[VMS] and  the new National Apprenticeship Service [NAS], which will be fully functional by April 2009.

The main role of the Apprenticeship Champion will be to engage and support providers and to form an action group to share good practice.

Employers will be signed up to the new scheme and encouraged to take on apprentices as part of their workforce development plans.

Please note that the National Apprenticeship Service will ultimately replace the Sussex Clearing House.
