The awards are the highlight of the year for learners, tutors, employers and apprentices. Awards cover all levels of learners and all forms of study. They are not targeted at the typical 16 - 17 year old student.
Sponsored by companies and organisations involved in education and training, the 2010 awards will be presented at an impressive Bafta style event to be held in the Hilton Brighton Metropole Hotel on Thursday 25th March 2010. It will comprise of a seated dinner, entertainment from Sussex students and, of course, the inspirational and often moving stories of the winners and finalists of the awards themselves.
We are delighted to announce that our keynote speaker at the awards will be Dr Richard Parker, Principal of Chichester College (see right hand panel).

Prizes for Winners and Runners Up
Winners will be filmed for short video clip that will be played at the ceremony. They will be invited on stage to recieve a beautiful trophy, certifcate and high street gift voucher to the value of £100. The ceremony will be filmed throughout the evening and a highlights DVD featuring the winners will be distributed once compiled. Our photographer will be on hand to capture that winning moment on carmera.
Runners up will be photographed and this will be included on the big screen at the ceremony. They will also be invited on stage to recieve a certificate and a high street gift voucher to the value of £50. Our photographer will be on hand to capture that special moment.

Richard's background reflects both a range of commercial and business experience, in banking, retail and Health Service Management, and the contribution of Further Education.

Returning to study at his local college in Edinburgh at the age of 21, he was then able to progress to the University of Stirling and later obtained his PhD at University College, Swansea.
In 1981, he obtained his first post as a lecturer in English and Communication at The East Yorkshire College. In 1986 he moved to become Head of Business and Management Studies at Evesham College, Worcestershire, from there in 1991 to Barnfield College, Luton as Assistant Principal. In September 1994 he was appointed as Principal of Fareham College.
In April he took up his current post as Principal at Chichester College of Arts, Science and Technology.
From 1st June 2001 he was also appointed Acting Principal of Brinsbury College and successfully led both colleges to a merger which took effect from 1st August 2002.
The new College is now called, simply, Chichester College.
Richard was one of the founding members of FE Sussex and chaired FE Sussex Limited from 2004 - 2008.
