What is STEM in Sussex?

STEM Sussex was born when LSC Sussex commissioned FE Sussex to raise participation in STEM activities to meet employer needs for STEM Skills.

Phase One of the project involved the formation of a steering group, which included representatives from the Sussex Learning Network, FE Sussex, LSC Sussex, SEEDA, SETPOINT Sussex and Aim Higher. The main aim of the group was to identify activity already taking place around the STEM agenda in Sussex.

FE Sussex undertook the research for the project, looking at national, regional and local organisations and activities, producing a comprehensive STEM report in August 2007, together with six additional reports identifying activity in each partnership area in Sussex.

The next stage was to produce a STEM Sussex website. The aim was to produce a user-friendly, functional and interesting resource for teachers, learners and employers This has been produced by SETPOINT Sussex, who created the new design and additional features. This site will evolve over time and become an essential resource for anyone interested in STEM.
