This free workshop to FE Sussex Members is focused on increasing awareness of how autism presents in girls and women and therefore how students can be better supported.
Autism is often misdiagnosed or undiagnosed and typically presents very differently to how it presents in boys and men. As a result of this, girls and women often struggle within educational settings with this ‘hidden disability’ and it is not picked up by the professionals they come into contact with.
The aim of this workshop is to:
- introduce this aspect of autism as a topic,
- provide information about the National Autistic Society online training module
- give feedback from a member of staff from GBMET who has completed the training and will highlight what and why they found this training useful
- provide a forum for any questions
